AGI Sport’s Luis Leeds has finished off his title winning campaign with victory in the sixth and final round of the 2019 CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship at The Bend Motorsport Park.

With Leeds wrapping up the title an entire day and round early, the battle remained for the final podium placings with Team BRM’s Lochie Hughes and Ryan Suhle ferociously battling for final honours.

Hughes won Sunday morning’s opening race, with Leeds claiming  victory across the final two races. Three consecutive podium finishes for Hughes though was enough to vault to runner-up in the 2019 championship over teammate Suhle.

Tommy Smith finished fourth for the round, followed by Antonio Astuti, Emerson Harvey and Jackson Walls.

Emerson Harvey also secured the Burson Auto Parts Rookie of 2019 honours, joining such alumni as Will Brown, Simon Fallon, Ryan Suhle and Lochie Hughes.

Leeds’ final round victory capped off a dominant season for the young Victorian, with six round wins, five Castrol Pole Positions and nine out of 18 race wins.

With five seasons now completed in the CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship, AGI Sport have broken the tie of championships against their South Australian rivals Team BRM – with the Sydney squad now claiming three in a row.

Leeds’ chassis also carried major significance, with the same car claiming Nick Rowe and Jayden Ojeda’s respective title campaigns.

Alongside completing his Year 12 studies, Leeds will now embark on raising funds for his 2020 campaign as he seeks to return to Europe in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.

Despite the conclusion of this year’s Australian Formula 4 Championship, further details will soon be announced regarding Australia’s entries for the inaugural Formula 4 Asia Pacific and potential FIA Motorsport Games.
