The second last CAMS Club Challenge Australia has been run and won, with the RX Racers taking out top honours after a class performance in the Queensland edition.
The three-driver squad proved too good for the remaining 11 teams on the Mount Cotton hill climb track, as all three of its competitors’ top two run times were within two-tenths of a second of each other.
Led by the day’s individual best runner, Pierz Harrex, whose two fastest times were split by just two-hundredths of a second, the team also had the third most consistent driver in Simon Harrex – his fastest times just five-hundredths of a second apart.
In outright second place was team Safety Fast, the five-entrant team falling just shy of the win after Peter Andrews led from the front with his two fastest times averaging only one-hundredth of a second slower than that of Harrex.

Rounding out the podium was team Stay on Track thanks to the fine work of their top two most consistent drivers in Jeff Graham and Brian Pettit, while national hill climb title contender Dean Tighe’s four-man team Fast Safely finished fourth.
In what was a tight battle for fifth outright between The 86ers and HSCCQ, a lighting set of final runs from The 86ers’ five drivers saw them secure a top-five berth at the expense of HSCCQ who settled for sixth.
While team GCTMC just edged out PCQ No 2 for seventh, the remaining positions were comfortably sorted out as The Pacemakers beat The Beaming Bimmers to slip into ninth, PCQ No 1 finished 11th ahead of 4 C's.
