After a record-breaking 2019, the Shannons Nationals promises even more action-packed racing with a seven event calendar confirmed for next year.

The 2020 calendar will include a visit to the iconic Mount Panorama, with the Bathurst 6 Hour now part of the Shannons Nationals line up.

Other rounds include visits to some of Australia’s most famous circuits, including Phillip Island, Sydney Motorsport Park, The Bend Motorsport Park and Winton.

The fifth round of 2020 is still to be confirmed, as discussions with several circuits continue for the event to be hosted in the first weekend of July.

CAMS, which will rebrand as Motorsport Australia from 1 January, and the Australian Racing Group (ARG), have confirmed they will continue their successful co-operation in 2020, with ARG’s suite of categories to run across the Shannons Nationals, including the popular carsales TCR Australia Series and the thundering S5000 open-wheelers.

Specific category calendars will be announced in due course, while broadcast and live stream details for the 2020 Shannons Nationals season will be revealed in the lead up to next year.

In 2019, Shannons Nationals has enjoyed significant growth both at event and through its broadcast and live stream according to Shannons Nationals Director, Michael Smith.

“2019 has really been a breakout year for the Shannons Nationals and we are even more excited about what is to come in 2020,” Smith said.

“With a significant boost in crowd and viewing figures so far this season, we’re certain that the Shannons Nationals will continue to grow even more with some terrific events scheduled for next year.

“In particular we have been delighted to work with Matt [Braid] and the team at ARG to add Bathurst to the Shannons Nationals line up. The calendar promises plenty of exciting racing across a wide range of categories and circuits.”

With one round to run, this year’s live stream has seen 500,000 viewers tune in across Facebook, the Shannons Nationals website and other live stream simulcasts – up almost 500 per cent on 2018 numbers. Ratings across SBS have been strong, averaging 60,000 viewers on both Saturday and Sunday at the most recent event at Sandown.

S5000 Australia and the carsales TCR Australia Series made their Australian launch at the Shannons Nationals in 2019, and Australian Racing Group Director Matt Braid is looking forward to continuing their relationship with the Shannons Nationals into the future.

"In our first full year of racing, the Australian Racing Group has enjoyed a positive relationship with CAMS and the confirmation of the events for next year is a strong sign of growth," Braid said.

"We have seen really good broadcast audience interest, great media feedback and record crowd attendance.

"We are looking forward to building on that for a bigger, better 2020 season, utilising the multiple motorsport category offerings that CAMS and ARG are able to bring to these events."
