The MG Car Club of Tasmania and Mini Car Club of Tasmania will run a joint event at Baskerville Raceway this weekend with Tasmanian licence holders encouraged to attend Sunday’s special event.
The event will be made up of two parts, with official timed laps to run in the morning and a Circuit sprint to run in the afternoon – the first section of which will serve as official competition for the event.
With the MG Car Club of Tasmania running its final competitive club event for the year, club representatives were hopeful of seeing a large turnout for the day.
More than 20 competitors have already entered the event, and Clerk of Course Robin Wilmot was hoping for a field of more than 40 entrants to end the season in style.
“This event will be the final competitive event for the MG Car Club of Tasmania for this year and we would love to hit 40 drivers,” Wilmot said.
“We are likely to get around 30 competitors which is good, but obviously when running events, you would love to have as many people as you can.
“The way we have structured the event will allow all the serious business to be done in the morning before everyone gets to have fun around the track in the afternoon – and it’s quite a popular format.
“There will be quite a few names to look out for, including Lincoln Spurr, who will be very much up the pointy end, and Cameron Howie, who only needs to turn up and start the event to claim the title.
“All in all, it should be a fantastic event and we are really looking forward to it.”
Entries for the event close at 11:59pm AEST on Thursday 7 September with interested competitors able to enter via the
Motorsport Australia Member Portal.
