The BMW Drivers Club of Melbourne’s commitment to growing participation at grassroots level will resume in March, with the club to host a special Come and Try Day.
 
Proudly supported by Kaos Custom Bikes, the training event will take place at Sandown Raceway and is open to anyone who wants to get into motorsport, with the club also offering coaching throughout the day. 
 
The event will see participants attend with their own vehicle and spend time with experienced club members, where they will learn the basics about racing, before getting to drive on the famous circuit.

While Come and Try Days are the perfect opportunity for prospective competitors to experience their vehicle's limits in a safe environment, it is also open for individuals to learn about being a motorsport official – one of the most vital parts of the sport.
 
Anyone wanting to be an official can email [email protected] and register their interest and what areas they would like to help and learn more about.
 
Not only will the club be running the Come and Try Day for all, but in celebration of International Women’s Day, which occurs in the week proceeding to the event, the club is also running a specialised Women’s Introduction to Motorsport component, which is open to women and girls ages 16 and above.

The Women’s Introduction to Motorsport component will be the first of its kind run by an affiliated club in conjunction with Motorsport Australia and has been developed to address barriers preventing women in getting started in motorsport.
 
Providing a safe and friendly entry point to get on track, the BMWDCM has a rich history in supporting women and junior drivers make their own pathways into the sport.
