Piszcyk confirmed for Australian F4 Championship
Thursday 07 March, 2024
Jimmy Piszcyk is locked in for the Formula 4 Australian Championship.
James Piszcyk is the first major rising star to sign up for the upcoming Formula 4 Australian Championship.
A proven race winner at international Formula 4 level, Piszcyk will tackle the five-round season with decorated Australian race team, AGI Sport.
The South Australian has enjoyed a steady rise through the ranks since graduating from a successful Karting Australia career, which has included multiple victories both domestically and internationally.
In 2022, Piszcyk contested the competitive Australian Formula Ford Championship where he picked up a number of podiums and victories, having led the standings throughout, only to finish second overall after missing the final round.
The following year, he made the move overseas and entered the British F4 Championship with Hitech GP, where he secured a handful of pole positions and race wins – finishing the year inside the top five.
The 17-year-old has also been selected for the Ferrari Driver Academy Asia Pacific and Oceania Selection Program on two occasions, progressing through to the final six at both events.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back into the car and racing with AGI,” Piszcyk said.
“They have had strong results in previous championships so I’m very excited to work with them. It’s good to be racing back home and I am keen for what the season will bring.”
AGI Sport Team Principal Adam Gotch was thrilled to reunite with Piszcyk for the highly anticipated return of Australian Formula 4.
“It’s a pleasure to announce Jimmy Piszcyk as the first driver in our line-up for the return of International Formula 4 racing back to Australian shores this year,” Gotch said.
“We tested Jim back in 2022 in one of our earlier first Gen F4 cars and he immediately showed great speed in resetting our own F4 lap records at Wakefield Park and Winton Raceway.
“Since then, he’s gone on to become a race winner in British F4 and showed speed on par with the best in Europe.
“As a team, we’ve just come off the back of a 6-month stint racing across Asia and the UAE so we're really excited to see what we can achieve with Jimmy driving one of our second generation Tatuus-Abarth F4 cars.”
The re-launch of the Formula 4 Australian Championship will be organised by international racing organisation, Top Speed, and will see young drivers behind the wheel of the same Tatuus F4 T421 GEN2 used in Formula 4 competitions worldwide.
The Championship will also give racers the chance to earn FIA super license points and provide a cost-effective way of building critical experience behind the wheel.
The 2024 Formula 4 Australian Championship begins at The Bend Motorsport Park on 5 May.
