Tim Macrow Racing has confirmed an entry for this year’s Formula 4 Australian Championship, with Joanne Ciconte signed on to contest the category’s debut season.

In what will be her first full season in an open wheel car, Ciconte will be running a collaborative effort between the Australian team and highly esteemed international squad, M2 Competition.

The 15-year-old will enter her debut season with a solid amount of experience behind the wheel, highlighted by her selection for the exclusive FIA Girls on Track Rising Stars Program finale at the famous Fiorano Circuit last year.

Just missing out on selection on a position at the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy for 2024, Ciconte spent the off season completing a rigorous training program, which consisted of simulator sessions and testing in one of the team’s Mygale M14-F4s.

Having also enjoyed a successful karting career, Ciconte made her official Formula 4 racing debut earlier this year as part of the Giti Australian Formula Open at the Shannons SpeedSeries’ Race Sandown, where she finished second for the round overall.

Ahead of her official debut Formula 4 season, Ciconte was looking forward to a big year.

“I’m really excited to begin my career in Australian Formula 4 and can’t wait for The Bend in May,” Ciconte said.

“It’s going to be a massive learning curve but I’m super confidant leading into the series with the team I have behind me.”

240326_Ciconte2Team principal Tim Macrow was excited to have Ciconte join the team and the team’s new partnership with M2 Competition.

“Joanne has proven in our sim and during testing that she has what it takes,” Macrow said.

“And with her performance at Sandown in AFO, I have no doubt that she will be running up front sooner rather than later.

“Our team is all about providing a pathway for young drivers, and by collaborating with M2 we gain access to different pathways all over the world, as well as engineering expertise, which is really exciting.”

The exciting relaunch of Formula 4 in Australia offers young drivers a fantastic platform to showcase their skills and compete in a FIA-certified open-wheel category.

Additionally, it will provide racers with the opportunity to earn FIA Super Licence points and facilitates a smoother transition to competing internationally in a cost-efficient manner, driving the Tatuus F4 T421 GEN2 that is used globally.

The season will feature a number of high-profile Australian circuits, including Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, Queensland Raceway, and Sydney Motorsport Park, before wrapping up at Sepang International Raceway.

The first round of the 2024 Formula 4 Australian Championship will take place at Shell V Power Motorsport Park on 4-5 May.
