Brenton Grove will join his father Stephen at the next round of Porsche Supercup

Stephen and Brenton Grove will make history as the first Australian father-son pairing in history to compete in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup Championship.

Stephen will compete against son, Brenton in Belgium for Round 7 of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup Championship, at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

Stephen has already shone on the Supercup stage this year, with a number of Pro-Am podium appearances, including a third in the Pro-Am class in the most recent event at the Hungaroring in Hungary.

“It’s fantastic to have Brenton join the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup grid at Spa,” Stephen said.

“It’s not often you get a father and son racing in the same series, especially at this level. Spa is a very special track, one of the best in the world and it’s got some great corners. I haven’t raced there for a few years, but I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel there.”

Brenton was understandably just as excited, praising the Porsche pathway.

“I’ve progressed through the Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge, Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia and Michelin Junior program, so this is just a further opportunity to advance within the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid. At least I won’t be going in with my eyes shut,” Brenton said.

“Porsche do an awesome job to develop juniors and it’s a proven channel. It’s a positive framework to be part of both as a driver and team manager. The domestic championships in Australia are both competitive and professional, hence why we keep coming back each year.”

The duo will prepare for their European adventure with a final hit out in South Australia with the PAYCE Porsche Carerra Cup – part of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship support bill at the 23-25 August event at The Bend.
