Kincrome SXS Motorsport Australia Championship first-year rookie Trevor Finck is now joint leader on the standings after producing another impressive performance last weekend.

It’s been an amazing start to Finck's SXS career, having secured consecutive podiums in his first two events - a third place in Rainbow adding to the runner-up gained alongside co-driver Tyler Fitzgerald in Alice Springs.

Finck currently shares the lead with another driver enjoying a good patch of form this year in veteran Stephen Henry – the Queenslander finishing adding a well deserved third place to his runner-up in Rainbow last month.

Taking out top honours for the round and picking up his first victory since the opening round of the 2019 season was Simon Evans and co-driver Max O’Brien.

Evans and O’Brien were too good during the second round, going fastest in both of their 100km races, while Finck was second in the opening race before falling behind Jackson Evans in the second race.

It’s been a less than ideal start to the season for Jackson, with the reigning champion finishing fourth in both rounds one and two, however he still remains in third place on the standings – equal with father Simon.

Jackson, who welcomed mechanic Sam Raper for the Alice Springs round after regular co-driver Claudia Evans had to withdraw due to illness, once again showed plenty of pace throughout the day.

While provisional results saw the Victorian initial awarded with the victory, he was eventually demoted down to fourth in the aftermath, his first race time eventually showing he finished fourth fastest.

Just six points now separate Henry and Finck with both Evans entries, while Chris Collins and Erika Savage’s fifth place in Alice saw them confirm their place inside the top five on the standings.

The third round of the 2021 Kincrome SXS Motorsport Australia Championship takes place in Kooralbyn, Queensland on 15 May.
