James Wharton has had a difficult weekend in the Italian F4 Championship after being unable to score any points in the latest round at Monza.

With heavy rain wreaking havoc on the round, and forcing one of the races to be cancelled, many of the drivers struggled to adapt to the conditions.

The Victorian started strong and showed plenty of pace in the initial phases of the round with the third fastest time in practice one before going sixth fastest in practice two.

Although he dropped a couple of places in both qualifying sessions by placing seventh and eighth respectively, Wharton was still in a solid position to score some valuable points towards his championship charge.

Unfortunately, he had very little luck in the two races that were run – the teenager a classified finisher with 30th for the opening race and placing 15th in the second race.

The two results saw Wharton lose ground on the standings as he dropped from fourth to sixth heading into the season finale later this month.

The final round of the 2022 Italian F4 Championship season takes place at Mugello Circuit on 21-23 October.

British F4

The 2022 British F4 Championship has wrapped for the year as Irishman Alex Dunne claimed the title.

Two Aussies featured in the season finale at Brands Hatch with Noah Lisle and Marcos Flack both contesting all three races.

Lisle ended up with better results of the two, having secured two ninth places either side of a P11 and claiming 13th overall on the overall championship standings.

His two top 10 finishes also saw him grab Rookie Cup podiums to secure fifth for the season.

As for Flack, it was a far less productive weekend for the Queenslander, with a P14 in the opening races his best result.

In the second race of the weekend, Flack was unable to finish a lap after being a victim in an early incident, while he was able to make it two seven laps in the final race but had to retire again.
