The second edition of the 2019 Ricciardo’s Racers campaign has been a resounding success with two sold out sessions taking place at Sydney Motorsport Park as part of the Shannons Nationals.

Both level one and two programs were offered during the New South Wales event with teenagers getting valuable experience in critical driving skills.

As with all of the Ricciardo’s Racers, the young drivers had professional instructors coaching them throughout the activities with Karl Reindler, Andrew Winton and 2018 Toyota 86 Champion Tim Brook all on hand.

With the Junior Drive Day taking place in the same location as the first round of the 2019 Shannons Nationals, which was hosting the inaugural round of the new TCR Australia series, the participants were treated to a special tour through pit lane.

During the pit walk, the participants were able to get up close and personal with the TCR teams, drivers and the cars, as well as witness regular Ricciardo’s Racers instructor Tony D’Alberto have a successful outing during the meeting, which included his historic pole position for the opening race.

Father of one of the participants Scott McKenzie highly praised the program with his son Cameron getting a lot of out of the day.

“Cameron had an awesome day,” McKenzie said.

“The day was both informative and fun and really helped him learn important skills when behind the wheel.

“He really enjoyed the interaction with the instructors and the pit walk with Karl Reindler after the program.”

The next Ricciardo’s Racers will be back at Sandown Raceway in Victoria on 13 July for another level one and two course.
