The Dunlop Super2 Series enters its third round for the season with MW Motorsport’s Bryce Fullwood leading the way after picking up two race wins and two runner-ups in season 2019.

 

Despite not winning a race in 2019, Zane Goddard is contention for the title thanks to his four podiums thus far. The most recent race winner in Ash Walsh sits in third place.

 

Last year, eventual 2018 series winner Chris Pither won the second race in Townsville, his final race win for the year, while Todd Hazelwood did the double in 2017 - his title winning year, making the event a good omen in determining the eventual title winner.

Some fresh names will enter the frame for the category this weekend with Off Road star and two-time Dakar Rally winner Toby Price to contest the second of three round deal with Team Triton.

 

Former Aussie Racing Cars driver Madison Dunston will make her ECB SuperUtes Series debut in her home town and will be behind the wheel of the Peters Motorsport prepared Holden Colorado.

 

In the series’ standings, Tom Alexander leads the way after picking up two wins in Perth but Ryal Harris is in close second after claiming four wins so far - a 10th in the first race and DNF in the last race costing him top spot.

A combination of Dale Wood’s three podium finishes and Jordan Love’s 11th and DNF in Darwin has effectively sealed the Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup for the current leader Wood.

 

With the series reaching it’s penultimate round this weekend, Love is going to need to win every race as well as a lot of luck to come his way if he is any chance to take the title off Wood.

 

However with Nick McBride and David Wall within 12 points of him, it seems more likely that the trio will be involved in a battle for outright second as opposed for the title.

More than 40 drivers took part in the season opener at Phillip Island in April and it is Tim Brook who leads the standings after the first round.

 

With a mixture of both veterans of the sport and rookies looking to find their way in the sport, the 86 Series is growing in popularity as the years roll on.

 

In the season opener’s two other races for the weekend, it was the young guns in Jaden Ransley and Declan Fraser who took out top honours, however invited driver Garth Tander finished the weekend off just in second place.
